Wantable Box Review: May 2013 PopBox by Robert Jones

My subscription box reviews are always full of praise for really well-curated boxes, and this is definitely one of those. This is the second of my Wantable box reviews, and it is a bit different than the first because this Wantable box review is for a special edition box with specific contents. The regular Wantable boxes are very highly customized and you take a quiz to determine which contents you get.

This one, however, is specially curated by famous makeup artist Robert Jones, who has worked with celebs like Selena Gomez, Cindy Crawford, Sheryl Crow, and the Dixie Chicks. Jones has big name clients including Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman and is well known for his easy to follow and very helpful makeup tutorials online.

The theme for this box is "Pop of Color" and it is specially inspired by the season of spring that is now emerging! The items were packaged carefully inside a lovely drawstring black velvet bag, and as the items appeared, I was really amazed at how well Robert Jones and Wantable encapsulated "Spring" in this collection. Just looking at the beautiful collection makes you feel that the season of gorgeous pastels and pops of elegant color is here!

29 Cosmetics Dew Lip Gloss: Shade is "Napa Sunset," a really subtle peachy pink shade that does give you some color but is sheer enough to be subtle. I'll be posting a photo wearing this soon.

Color Club Nail Lacquer: Shade is "He Loves Me," a perfectly pale pink that just screams "Spring," and makes you want to go hunt for easter eggs! I have now found my perfect pink nail polish shade. I've loved the Color Club formula since Wantable introduced me a few months ago, and this is just as nice as the last bottle. You can get light coverage in 1 coat, full coverage in 2 coats, and a really nice full and stunning pink with three coats. The swatches in this photo show you 1, 2, and 3 coats, left to right.

Manna Kadar Blush: Shade is "High Five," a really nice shade that is somehow peach and pink at the same time. It's fairly pigmented, so just a quick sweep will give you a gorgeous blush of spring color.

Cailyn Cosmetics Gel Eyeliner: In Black. This is probably my favorite item in the box. It looks like an ordinary eyeliner somewhat -- but it's really unique! You screw off the bottom portion, and pull out the top part of it to get three separate pieces. The bottom part holds the pot of black gel eyeliner, and the top part is your brush. This little brush is amazing. It's tapered just perfectly and makes application easy. Anyone who has tried gel eyeliner before may have used an angled brush. Well, this is so much easier. Plus, the short length of the applicator makes precision easy.

Darla Makeup Eye Shadow: In "Betty Jane," a gorgeous shimmery pale green that can work well with absolutely any eye color or complexion. This is a very light dust of color and has the ability to lighten, brighten, and convey that springtime feeling.  This is best as a light dust of color and really can make you look and feel ready for spring.

This box gives us peaches, pinks, gently shimmering greens, and an elegant sweep of black to tie it all together. These shades are extremely versatile and will look great on anyone. They are not the super extreme kind of shades that only work for one complexion, but rather the ones that look equally good on my olive skin and my friend's pale white complexion. If you like the idea of spring renewal for your makeup look, this definitely has you covered.

Once again, Wantable has wowed me with their attention to detail. They don't just do boxes of makeup, but entire looks. When you get your Wantable box you can rest assured that the whole box of makeup will look great together, and it will look great on you personally. That's why I call it the perfect box for makeup lovers: High end brands that were picked out just for you, and high end brands chosen by one of the hottest makeup artists out there? Yes, that's Wantable.

Gotta have your own Wantable? You can get the Robert Jones box you saw here (these are all full sized products) for $36 when you sign up (cancel anytime) or $40 if you want to buy a one time box. Wantable always gives you at least $80 worth of cosmetics and often more that that (this box easily topped $90 retail.)
