Healthy Pet Advisor Review

Healthy Pet Advisor is a pet subscription service that is part of a pet information website. The site has a large information base including articles and slideshows about common pet concerns and issues and the pet box is a newer venture.

You can order a box for cats or small dogs ($19.95 per month + $7.50 shipping) or a box for medium or large dogs ($39.95/month + $9.50 shipping.)  The small box includes one full size grooming aid, supplement, treatment, or toy along with a variety of food samples, toys, treats, surprises, etc. The large box has two full size aids/supplements/treatments/toys along with a variety of  food samples, toys, treats, surprises, etc.

Your box will be customized according to your pet quiz each month. If you have some specific pet concerns, you might want to check out their special boxes like the "Itchy Scratchy Stinky", the "My Tummy Hurts," the "Older/Less Active," and the "Big Boned" boxes." These boxes are still customized for your pet, but they include specific types of products meant to address issues like allergies, etc.

Squeaky Dog from Mammoth(retail $5.99): This is a sheepskin dog toy that has squeakers in the body. Jade has been playing with this a lot and seems to enjoy it. She must recognize that it's a dog! But seriously, Jade has a cute habit with her toys (bragging forthcoming, skip ahead if you are tired of hearing me brag about Jade lol): Every time we get a new dog toy in a box or as a gift, we play with it for a few minutes and then it gets placed in her "toy box." There are a lot of toys in that toy box, since she's spoiled rotten. Jade always likes to get her newest toy out to play with first. It's amazing to me how she sorts through all the toys and then selects her newest acquisition first every time! She does of course play with all her toys, but the first toy to play with each day has to be the new one.

Grandma Mae's Country Naturals Dog Food (14 oz, retail $2.49): This is a chicken based kibble that we will be trying out soon. While some people have the kind of dogs that actually eat their food when it's put out, I do not. If I am lucky enough to get Jade to eat a food, she will only do so enthusiastically for a week or so. Then, hunger strike.
Grandma Mae's Farmhouse Blend (14 oz, retail $2.49): This is a dry kibble with primary protein sources of fish and pork, so it's meant for dogs who don't like or can't tolerate the more common sources like chicken/beef/lamb. We are trying this tonight and I have high hopes. Jade does have a tendency to like fish based foods, so she may deign to eat some of this. I'm probably always going to be on the hunt for the holy grail food that she likes, at least till I bite the bullet and go raw. But, in the meantime we enjoy trying new things.

Two Stickers: These are meant for your doors, windows, etc. They will alert emergency personnel that your furkids are inside and need to be rescued in case of fire, etc.
Richard's Organics Anti Bacterial Shampoo(12 fl oz): This is a full size bottle of anti bacterial shampoo with tea tree and Neem oil. Have yet to try this but I enjoy the fragrance of tea tree, so really like it so far. Greyhounds, as a short haired breed, don't need super frequent bathing so it will be a while before we try this out.
Supreme Healthy Max  Dog Treats (4 oz): These were a big hit. They are made with salmon, and the smell is definitely pungent. The "smellier" the better for Miss Jade, who would gobble the whole bag at once if I would let her. I like that these are formulated to help with skin and coat.
Kong Squeezz Ball ($6.99 retail): This is from the awesome Kong company, which makes all kinds of toys that you can conceal treats in. This had a small area in the middle that is hollow. It can be filled with a stuffing or with treats that the pup then has to work out of there. Jade enjoys her Kongs and we've been having fun with this one.
Yay, new Kong for me!
Thanks for reading my review!
This was a nice pet box, and it was especially interesting because it puts the focus more on food, pet products, and grooming type products rather than the treats that most pet boxes seem to. I think some of the special focus boxes look like really good choices for people who want to have more control over box contents, too.
