Homegrown Collective Review: November 2013

This Homegrown Collective review will cover the November box, which contained two really fun projects. This professionally curated and seasonally themed monthly box changes themes every month, hence the Almond De"light" theme in this Homegrown Collective review. The box offers one project in which you get to make your own almond milk and another in which you craft your own paraffin lamp with beautiful holiday contents.

The boxes include projects and unique opportunities to grow your own organic food, create your own all natural products, and more. The cost of Homegrown Collective is $39 per month ( with $9 shipping, the boxes are very large!), and significant discounts and free shipping for 6 month or longer subs. This is the November Homegrown Collective review!
First look: Already festive looking!

Chocolate almond milk project ingredients. As a huge fan of almond milk, I thought this was a really fun project to get! Ingredients provided for this project: An 8 ounce bag of natural shelled almonds, 1/2 cup of organic cacao powder, 1/2 cup of organic shredded coconut, and a cheesecloth. This is an incredibly educational and fun project in my opinion. My nephew and I did this one together and it is very simple, just takes 24 to 48 hours to extract the almond milk using water. You then add the organic cacao powder for the delicious chocolate flavor and the coconut for sweetness. It was delicious! Almond milk is some of the creamiest, and is my favorite milk. It was especially fun to make my own and I will be doing this project again in the future now that the Greenbox showed me how easy it is.
This gorgeous greenery was placed in a charming rustic burlap sack and included pinecones, cedar cuttings, and holly berries. We also got a classic mason jar with a pre-cut hole in the lid, a fiberglass wick, and clean burning indoor paraffin lamp oil for the paraffin oil lamp project. This was SO easy and so much fun. It literally takes just a few minutes if you are pressed for time, although I took much longer as I was having so much fun arranging all the greenery, trying to decide how it looked the prettiest.
Once you add the greenery, you simply pour the paraffin into the mason jar, place the wick through the lid and into the paraffin in the jar, and screw the lid on.
All lit up! It is a perfect holiday decoration and is just beautiful.
This Homegrown Collective Greenbox was extremely enjoyable and educational as well. This was definitely my favorite of the Greenboxes thus far, both projects just seemed practically custom tailored for what I'd enjoy. Anyone can do these projects, and if you ever get a bit confused the instructions are crystal clear and really informative as well.

This is a beautifully curated box and I am trying to make room in my "box budget" to get it every month because it really is that much fun and that useful. You can check it out here:Homegrown Collective
