Ipsy Review: January 2014

The Ipsy Glambag this month was definitely a little bit later to arrive than I had become accustomed to. Ipsy is $10 per month and includes either 4 or 5 samples of beauty and body products. This bag usually sends us makeup items, but this month was light on the makeup. While there were some great items sent out this month, I'm sad to say I didn't get the one I had been wishing for. I didn't receive the Benefit Porefressional, but at least I did get the hair mask I had wanted. The theme this month is "19 Reasons" and is focused on New Years rejuvenation products. There were 20 possible products this month. These are the five items I got -- keep reading for the Ipsy January 2014 glambag review.
Mica Beauty Tinted Lip Balm in "Fiesta"(2.5 g, retail $18): This is pretty bright, but I do like the color if it's used with a very light hand. The full size of this comes with an attached brush, similar to the Cailyn cosmetics liners that I love.
Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask (1 oz, retail about $5): This mask was my favorite item in the bag because I love hair masks. I tried it tonight and I really like how my hair looks and feels. Nice sample size, too!
Nourish Organic Moisturizing Face Lotion (retail $6.50) This was definitely not my favorite sample. I didn't hate it, but there are other brands I greatly prefer. It is definitely lightweight and I'd say it does an average job of moisturizing.
Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow Cream Eye Pencil in "Pearl" (.7 grams, retail value $7): This is so pretty, and very easy to use. I had not expected to like this so much but I am very impressed with the quality of this pencil. I find this is perfect for highlighting at the eye corners.
Eye pencil swatch. Shimmery, very pretty!
Proactiv Mark Fading Pads (four pads, retail ?) These are designed to fade acne scarring, and while I like the idea of them I don't think four pads will really be enough of a sample to show me any difference. I may give these to my sister, who is a huge Proactiv fan.

Overall, I think it was a decent Glambag but certainly not my favorite in recent memory. The hair mask was really great and truly made the bag for me, and I adore the eye shadow pencil so I definitely got my money's worth. As I always say, you can't really go wrong with spending $10 a month for this sub.
