Project DIY Review: November 2013

Project DIY is a new jewelry DIY box from MJ Trimmings. Each box includes two or three projects inspired by the latest runway and fashion trends. This month's box was inspired by Joan of Arc, and given the theme I knew we'd have some fierce yet feminine pieces, and that is definitely what they delivered!

This box costs $30 per month, shipping included. You can go online to the Project DIY guides to get step by step instructions, or you can use their iPhone app as well. Right now, if you subscribe to Project DIY you'll get a free starter kit with tools for jewelry crafting included in your first box. That is a $20 value by itself, for free!

November Project DIY box: Joan of Arc Collection!

The base of the Warrior cuff bracelet came in a lovely red velvet pouch.

My Warrior Cuff bracelet and my Shield necklace, completed!
Close up of the Shield necklace. I chose to vary the design a bit and I really like the finished product! One suggestion Project DIY made was to paint the back of the clear center jewel with nail polish. I decided to go with a black latex polish (Cleopatra from Julep, to be precise) and I love how it turned out.
I varied the design for the Warrior cuff as well, making it a bit more basic than what was shown in the photo. I had so much fun with this! I've already worn both pieces twice.
Project DIY was SO much fun for me! When I first saw the box I was worried it would be too difficult for me to do since I'm not very experienced with jewelry making. Instead, I found it very easy to follow the directions and even felt confident enough to make some alterations to create something all my own.

If you love fashion, jewelry, and the latest trends, if you are a person who enjoys crafting, this is a perfect box for you. I plan to get this box again as soon as I can because I had so much fun with the crafting. You can get your own Project DIY here: PROJECT DIY
